Start at 9AM. Our first stop is the famous
Kampung Adat Ratenggaro. The view of the village area is breathtaking.
Unfortunately, there’s always this group of kids who managed to ruin our mood.
They constantly begging us to give them some money, in a very aggressive way.
Later on, someone told us that it’s a very common condition in the southwest
area of sumba, especially in the Kodi area. They make their children beg money
from visitors and not stop begging until they get the money. What a pity.
And you know what, the adults’ behaviour is
just the same! On our way out from the village, one elderly man block our car
and ask us for money. When we gave him Rp20.000, he didn’t move, apparently he
wants Rp50.000! What the **** ??!!
Very sad, the beauty of a site in ruined by
the behaviour of its people. No wonder why Indonesia struggle to elevate its
tourism.
Anyway, after the traditional village, we
proceed to pantai pero, and then to danau weekuri, and pantai mandorak to see
the sunset. The same thing happened to us in pantai mandorak (the kids begging
for money) yet we successfully managed to ignore them.
